Are your emails successfully reaching your customers' inboxes? Ensuring the delivery of abandoned cart recovery emails and other crucial messages is essential for effective customer engagement and higher conversion rates. However, email deliverability can sometimes be a challenge due to spam filters and other technical barriers.
To help you overcome these challenges, we’ve compiled a list of best practices and actionable steps to improve your email deliverability, ensuring that your cart recovery emails and marketing messages land directly in your customers' inboxes. Let’s dive in!
The "From Name" and "From Address" are the first things your customers see when they receive your email. Displaying your brand name prominently in the "From Name" builds trust, captures attention, and helps reduce the chances of your emails being marked as spam.
With Retainful, you can easily customize the "From Name" and "From Address" for all your recovery emails. This ensures consistency in your branding and reinforces your professional image, making your emails more recognizable and trustworthy to your recipients.
To add a more personal touch, you can also send emails from an individual’s email address in your company. After the individual’s name, you can also add your brand name.
On your Retainful dashboard -> Settings -> Email, you’ll find the 'Email properties' section.
You can enter the From name, From address, and Reply to address in their respective fields.
Click on the 'Save' button once to save the email properties.
NOTE: Make sure to use your shop's official email address that ends with your shop domain name.
Here is an example: support@retainful.com
Don't use invalid email addresses and email addresses that end with @gmail.com or @yahoo.com
You could also avoid confusion regarding the origin of the emails by sending emails from your brand's domain.
This also enhances trust among customers while also improving email deliverability rates.
Retainful lets you add a custom domain name from which all the recovery emails would be sent instead of the Retainful domain.

As per GDPR regulations, it is not only necessary to obtain consent from your users to send them emails but also to provide them with an opt-out option so that they can stop receiving your emails if they wish.
This can be done by adding an unsubscribe option on all your cart recovery emails.
The default email templates of Retainful do have an unsubscribe link at the bottom.
However, if you create a new template, you can still add the unsubscribe link by dragging and dropping the Unsubscribe block from the Content on the right side of the mail template.
The subject line is the first thing a user has eyes on before opening an email. A catchy subject line can not only gain the user's attention but also improve deliverability.
Avoid spam trigger words in the subject line such as “free”, “risk-free”, “special offer”, etc
Personalize your emails by using the user's name on the subject line.

Smart Sending is a feature that allows you to set a time limit (for example, 8 hours or 24 hours) within which a subscriber will not receive more than one email from you. This feature helps prevent your subscribers from receiving too many emails in a short period, ensuring you don’t overwhelm them with multiple emails.
Smart Sending helps you avoid sending too many emails to your subscribers in a short period. It ensures that they don’t feel overwhelmed or annoyed. By limiting email frequency, you improve engagement, reduce unsubscribes, and increase the chances of your emails being opened. This leads to a better experience for your customers and improves your email deliverability. In simple terms, Smart Sending helps you stay connected without overdoing it.

When sending automated emails, consistency is the key. You might want to draft a consistent series.
An ideal abandoned cart recovery email sequence comprises 3 emails set up at good time intervals. You could still have additional emails added to your email sequence.
However, you might want to find the correct balance between bombarding customers with too many emails and contacting them infrequently.
Improving email deliverability is key to ensuring your messages reach customers. By customizing your email settings, using a custom domain, adding opt-out options, and crafting engaging subject lines, you can enhance trust and engagement. For further help, our support team is here to assist you.
